Inside the bubble

It was a dreary day today. The rain pattered on the cobbled squares of the parliamentary estate, and the grey clouds were hanging over an institution facing trials and tribulations. In the wake of the expenses scandals, it was business as usual for the many citizens of Westminster village. It has been a month since I have started my internship working for Andrew George MP. The scene from inside the political bubble has been an enlightening one. Walking the long and ancient corridors of power, catching glimpses of the major players in UK politics, David Cameron, Boris Johnson, David Miliband, Alex Salmond, Nick Clegg, and many others. I must admit, I get a kick out of strolling past security every morning in my suit, grabbing a morning coffee, and getting on with my duties, no matter how mundane they may be. Dealing with the diary, drafting the press releases, and the general day to day business of the office. It's been a good experience up in the Lib Dem haunts of Portcullis House, and my colleagues have been welcoming and supporting. I have only a few weeks left, time to make the most of it, and see where I go from here!
