Gordon Brown takes flak for Piers Morgan interview

It's my lunch break at work, so decided to take a couple of minutes to update. It's been a while. Work is going well, it's interesting, and I get to wear a suit. Which is refreshing having been in jeans and t-shirt for most of the past three years at university. I also gave my first presentation at a meeting of London Volunteer Centre managers, which was a little daunting considering they consisted mostly of very intelligent women. Anyway, on another subject, I watched Gordon Brown's interview with Piers Morgan on Youtube last night. Let's just say, he is easier to understand now that I've heard him talk about his life and background. It certainly wasn't an easy background, and you have to give the man credit for continuing despite everything that has happened to him. What I didn't like was seeing a seperate video with the BBC commenting on his interview. The first thing they did was talk about whether the interview was likely to improve his poll ratings and whether it was a coincidence he should be having such an interview so close to the coming general elections. It's a shame that the BBC should take such an approach when the man has obviously gone to great pains being open about his background. There is probably an element of political calculation in every decision to have an interview, but having watched the interview myself, I wasn't swayed into thinking that he is any more suitable to be Prime Minister because he can sit on a sofa and talk about his life. If anything, it seemed a good opportunity for people to get to know their Prime Minister, which is hardly a crime. Commenting on the interview, Gordon Brown said, ‘I think that people have a right to know who you are, what you stand for, where you come from and what you are trying to achieve. If people have questions to ask me, I am ready to answer them.’
